Factorial design (2^k)
every combination of the factor levels
Runs = 2^k × replicates
A full factorial design tests every combination of the levels of all factors. With k factors at two levels (low and high) it needs 2^k runs: 4 for 2 factors, 8 for 3, 16 for 4 and 32 for 5.
Because the design is balanced and orthogonal, every main effect and interaction can be estimated independently of the others.
