First pass yield
good the first time, without rework
FPY = units passed first time / units entering the process
First pass yield is the share of units that pass a process step at the first attempt, with no rework or repair. Rework hides inside a normal “yield”, FPY shows it.
Example
1,000 units enter the step, 950 pass at once, 30 are reworked and 20 scrapped. The yield counts 980 good parts, the FPY is 95 %.
