Traceability
following a product through its history
Traceability is the ability to identify a product and trace its history: material lot, process, machine, date, operator and where it was shipped. It limits the size of a recall and is a requirement in many customer contracts.
A mock recall (finding all affected parts and customers within a set time) is a good test of the system.
