Correction
fixing the detected nonconformity
A correction is the action that eliminates a detected nonconformity, for example reworking, scrapping or sorting the parts. It deals with the symptom.
A correction alone does not stop the problem from coming back. That needs a corrective action.
Example
Sorting 500 parts with a burr is a correction. Finding why the tool wore early and changing the tool-change interval is the corrective action.
