CAPA

corrective and preventive action

CAPA is the system for recording problems and driving corrective and preventive actions to closure with owners, due dates and an effectiveness check. The term is common in medical device and pharmaceutical quality. ISO 9001:2015 itself speaks of corrective action and risk-based thinking.

A simple CAPA register lists the problem, containment, root cause, action, owner, due date, effectiveness check and status.
